(2025)Datura Quercifolia 20+ seeds
Datura quercifolia, commonly known as Oakleaf Datura, is a rare, heat-loving species native to northern Mexico and parts of the American Southwest. Named for its deeply lobed, oak-like foliage, this plant stands apart from more common Datura species with its compact growth, thick woody stems, and striking striped flowers that range from creamy white to purple.
Unlike the sprawling D. inoxia or the towering D. metel, D. quercifolia stays bushy and sculptural — ideal for arid gardens or collectors who appreciate structural variation. The seed pods are large and armored, typical of the genus, but slightly more elongated in this species.
It thrives in full sun, sandy soil, and low humidity, making it a perfect candidate for desert or Mediterranean-style cultivation. Flowering begins in mid-summer, with blooms opening in the evening and fading by the next day — a trait that speaks to its pollination by nocturnal insects.
